A few thoughts on Flash because I’m continually amazed how seemingly sophisticated clients still think having a Flashed-based site is akin to having a strong presence on the Web.
Flash is just not good for SEO and doesn’t help any organization or individual who cares about their page rank.
This may be an obvious truth for those of us who work in social media, but for everyone else who is out there looking for guidance on site or Web presence building, it’s one of those fundamental truths. And it can’t be emphasized enough.
I’m also of the mind that heavy use of Flash also signals a lack of awareness about doing business on the Web. It just makes me nervous when I see companies that should know better, deploying it.
With that in mind, there’s a terrific post at Search Engine Land by Jill Whalen on the ongoing problems with Google and Flash.
Jill took the time to see how Google is handling Flash these days. Her insights and observations important and so helpful. Helpful tool in explaining to clients that not all Web site are “read” the same.
